It Looks Sad. is an American emo band that originated in Charlotte, North Carolina, formed in early 2012 by Brett Green, Jimmy Turner, Lamont Brown, and Vince D'Ambrosio under the original name "It Looks Sad, That's Why I Said It's You." The group released the EP Welcome to Good Woods in 2012, followed by Daughters Cottage later that year. In late 2013 the band shortened its name to It Looks Sad. and signed with the local label Tiny Engines, releasing the single "Seasons" under the new name, followed by a third EP, It Looks Sad., in 2014. The digital release Kaiju (2015) featured the tracks "Creature" and "Nagoya", and the band then set out on a further tour of the East Coast. In late 2017 the band issued Lost Songs to help cover the repair of a member's broken-down car, and in 2018 its debut full-length album Sky Lake (Tiny Engines) arrived, accompanied by the singles "Light", "Drool", "Bike", and "Visor". A four-track EP, Songs for Quarantine, followed in 2020. The band remains active, with a sound that draws on indie rock, post-punk, shoegaze and electronic styles alongside its emo identity.
