The Fibonaccis were an American art rock band formed in 1981 in Los Angeles and consisted of John Dentino, Ron Stringer, Magie Song, Joe Berardi and Tom Corey. The band's music was characterized by intricate piano and guitar lines, unconventional instruments, and dark, esoteric lyrics presented in a satirical fashion. They released their debut EP Fĭʼ-bō-năʼ-chēz in 1982, followed by the EP Tumor in 1983. In 1987, they released their sole studio LP Civilization and Its Discotheques. Throughout their career, the Fibonaccis contributed to independent film soundtracks, including TerrorVision (1986) and Slam Dance (1987). The band disbanded in 1988 due to frustrations with record companies. In 1992, Restless Records released a retrospective album titled Repressed: The Best of the Fibonaccis. Tom Corey died from a cerebral aneurysm in late 2001 and Ron Stringer passed away from liver cancer in late 2021.
