Frank Bretschneider, born in 1956 in Obercrinitz, Germany, is a musician and video artist. He began producing music in 1984 and co-founded the experimental group AG Geige in 1986. The band gained recognition through Lutz Schramms' radio show Parocktikum on DT64. Bretschneider established the cassette label klangFarBe to release AG Geige's albums. In 1995, he co-founded Rastermusic with Olaf Bender, which later merged with noton archiv für ton und nichtton to form Raster-Noton in 1999. Bretschneider has released numerous albums under his own name and the pseudonym Komet, including Looping I-Vi (and Other Assorted Love Songs) (2004), Rhythm (2007), Kippschwingungen (2012), and Lunik (2018). He has collaborated with artists such as Carsten Nicolai and Olaf Bender. Bretschneider's works have also been released on labels like 12k, Mille Plateaux, Quatermass, Raster-Noton, Staalplaat, and Mort Aux Vaches.
