Matthew Byrne, born in Canada, is a folk singer and guitarist. The son of Joe Byrne of the folk duo Pat and Joe Byrne, he began his solo career with the release of Ballads in 2010. Byrne's second album, Hearts and Heroes, was released in 2014. He received two Canadian Folk Music Award nominations at the 11th Canadian Folk Music Awards in 2015 for Traditional Album and Traditional Singer, winning the award for Traditional Album. His third album, Horizon Lines, was released in 2017, earning him two more CFMA nominations at the 14th Canadian Folk Music Awards in 2018, and again winning the award for Traditional Album. Byrne's fourth album, Matthew Byrne & the Lady Cove Women's Choir, was released in early 2020.
