Andrew Bird’s Bowl of Fire was an American band fronted by musician Andrew Bird. Formed after Bird’s early solo work and appearances with the Squirrel Nut Zippers, the group released its debut album, Thrills, in 1998, followed by Oh! The Grandeur in 1999. Their music drew heavily from traditional folk, pre-war jazz, and swing, with Bird playing violin and providing vocals. The band’s third album, The Swimming Hour, was released in 2001 and expanded their sound to include zydeco, rock, and other styles. Despite critical acclaim, the group struggled commercially and unofficially disbanded in 2003 after Bird began performing solo. Former members reunited for a benefit concert in Chicago in 2017.
