Zuntata is the collective name for Taito's sound development division, which was established in 1983. The group, including sound director Katsuhisa Ishikawa, began contributing to various Taito franchises such as Darius, Groove Coaster, and Space Invaders. The name Zuntata was first used for the Ninja Warriors soundtrack in 1988. Notable releases include Darius - Taito Game Music Vol. 2 (1987), Metal Black = メタルブラック (1992), and Rayforce = レイフォース (1994). After Taito's acquisition by Square Enix in 2005, several members departed due to creative differences. Zuntata continued producing music for Taito video games, focusing on the Groove Coaster series. Their abstract and synth-pop style has garnered attention from video game publications.
