Powerspace, a four-piece power pop band from Chicago, Illinois, formed with members Alec Cyganowski on lead vocals, Tommy English on guitar, Kevin Kane on drums, and Daniel McMahon on bass. The group began performing while students at Miami University and quickly gained attention for their energetic live shows. In 2007, they signed to Fueled by Ramen Records and released their debut album, The Kicks of Passion, produced by Marc McClusky. The band toured extensively in support of the album, opening for acts such as Hawthorne Heights and Amber Pacific, and played at notable events like SXSW and PunkSpring in Tokyo. Their single "Powerspace Snap Bracelet" was featured in SPIN magazine. In 2010, they announced their breakup before releasing their planned second album, American Machine.
