Suming Rupi, born July 17, 1978, in Taitung County, Taiwan, is a Taiwanese singer-songwriter and actor of Amis heritage. He began his music career in 2002 with the band Totem, which won the first prize at the 7th Hohaiyan Rock Festival in 2005. The band released their debut album, Over There I Sing, on April 1, 2006. The album's track “Panay, 19-years-old” was named one of the top ten singles of the year by the Association of Music Workers in Taiwan, and the album received a nomination for Best Band at the 18th Golden Melody Awards. In 2010, he released his eponymous solo debut album, Suming, writing ten of the 11 tracks in the Amis language; it entered the KKBox Western Chart Top 100 for eight consecutive months and won Best Indigenous Album at the 22nd Golden Melody Awards in 2011. His other releases include the film soundtrack Children of the Sun (2015), the EP 向最初的自己致敬 (2017), and the album Bondada (2019). He won a Golden Horse Award for Best New Performer in 2008 for his role in the film Hopscotch and founded the Amis Music Festival in 2013.
