Jon Mueller (born 1970) was an American percussionist and composer from Waukesha, Wisconsin, active in experimental, rock, and jazz genres. Mueller began performing on drums after becoming interested in the instrument's focus away from melody. In the 1990s, he co-founded the groups Pele and Collections of Colonies of Bees with guitarist Chris Rosenau. The latter group later co-founded Volcano Choir with Justin Vernon; their debut album Unmap reached number 92 on the Billboard 200 chart in 2009. Mueller collaborated with musicians including James Plotkin, Rhys Chatham, and Asmus Tietchens. His solo discography included the recordings Metals (2008) and Physical Changes (2009). His work was released by labels such as Table of the Elements, Polyvinyl Records, and Jagjaguwar. In 2011, he initiated the multidisciplinary project Death Blues.
