Simon Joseph Joyner, also known as Simon Joyner, was born on August 9, 1971, in Omaha, Nebraska, and is an American singer‑songwriter whose early recordings appeared on independent labels such as Sing, Eunuchs! and One‑Hour. His releases include the Room Temperature EP (1993) and the single "One for the Catholic Girls" (1998), which established his introspective style. In 1994, he issued The Cowardly Traveller Pays His Toll, later reissued by Team Love in 2008, and followed with Heaven's Gate (1995) and Songs for the New Year (1997). His 2004 album Lost with the Lights On was released through Jagjaguwar, while Skeleton Blues (2006) and Out into the Snow (2009) expanded his discography. He collaborated with John Darnielle of The Mountain Goats.
