Digno García was a Paraguayan harpist and composer born on 22 September 1919 in Luque. He began his musical career at age 12 as a singer for Julián Rejala and later performed with the ensemble of Gumersindo Ayala Aquino. He achieved professional recognition for the composition “Cascada”, which was utilized as theme music for Radio Vaticano. In 1952, García joined the group Trío Los Paraguayos, with whom he recorded the instrumental tracks “Pájaro campana” and “Cascada” for Philips Records. After the ensemble disbanded in 1956, he established the group Digno García y los Carios. His discography includes more than 50 recordings and works such as “Mi compañera”, “A mi Paraguay”, and “Costa brava”. He received the Orden Nacional del Mérito for his contributions to Paraguayan music. García died on 4 February 1984 in Geraardsbergen.
