Mannhai, a Finnish stoner rock/stoner metal band from Helsinki, was formed in late 1999 by bassist Olli-Pekka "Oppu" Laine and guitarist Ilkka "Ile" Laaksomaa. They released a demo tape in 2000 that secured a recording contract with Spinefarm Records. Their debut album, The Sons of Yesterday's Black Grouse, was released in 2001, followed by Evil Under the Sun (2003), which featured the music video for "Spiritraiser". In 2004, Mannhai released their third album, The Exploder. After lead vocalist Jani "Joãnitor" Muurinen's departure in November 2004, Pasi Koskinen of Amorphis joined as the new vocalist. With Koskinen, they released Hellroad Caravan (2006), which included the single "Spaceball" that topped the Finnish charts. The band played their last gigs in late 2006 and officially announced an indefinite hiatus on February 5, 2009. After an eight-year creative break, Mannhai reunited with its original lineup for a sold-out concert at Semifinale near Tavastia in October 2014.
