Fandango was an American pop rock and hard rock band from the Tri-state area established in 1976. The ensemble consisted of vocalist Joe Lynn Turner, guitarists Rick Blakemore and Ron Zampini, keyboardists Larry Dawson and Joe De Lia, bassist Bob Danyls, and drummer Abe Speller. Their recording career began with the debut eponymous studio recording Fandango (1977), which featured the tracks “Headliner” and “Life Of The Party”. The musicians reached professional recognition for a musical style influenced by the Eagles and southern rock. In 1977, Fandango reached professional recognition after signing a recording contract with the labels RCA Records and Wounded Bird Records. The ensemble subsequently released the studio recordings Last Kiss (1978) and One Night Stand (1979) followed by the studio recording Cadillac (1980). Fandango performed as a support act for musicians including the Allman Brothers, Wet Willie, and Billy Joel. The ensemble disbanded in 1980 following the theft of its professional equipment during the Chicago Fest. Turner subsequently reached wider visibility after his performance with the group led to an invitation to audition for the ensemble Rainbow.
