Hans Christian is a German-born multi-instrumentalist, composer, and music producer who was born on May 20, 1960. He eventually settled in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, where he established his recording studio, STUDIO 330, and the record label, Allemande Music. After spending six years in Los Angeles, California, recording and performing with Robbie Robertson, Gene Clark, and other artists, he released the solo albums Phantoms (1994) and Surrender (1996), which established his reputation in world-music and electronic circles. He followed these with Light & Spirit (2004) and Cinema of Dreams (2007). He also recorded a series of cello-improvisation albums at Chartres Cathedral, which include Sancta Camisia: Cello Improvisations at Chartres Cathedral (2008), Undefended Heart: Live Cello Improvisations with loops (2010), and All Is Well: Live Cello improvisations with loops (2011). His collaborative work with Andrew Harvey produced Rumi Symphony (2011). His album Ocean Dreaming Ocean (2023), recorded with cellist David Darling, earned a 2024 Grammy nomination, and Melodiya (2024), a collaboration with Thomas Barquee, received multiple accolades from the New Age Notes awards.
