Sarah Shannon is an American singer known for her work in indie rock and indie pop. Her career began with Velocity Girl, an indie rock band formed in 1989 in College Park, Maryland. The band released three albums on Sub Pop: Copacetic (1993), ¡Simpatico! (1994), and Gilded Stars and Zealous Hearts (1996). Velocity Girl was noted for their melodic sound and frequent releases of 7-inch vinyl singles. Shannon replaced Bridget Cross as the lead singer after the band's debut single, "I Don't Care If You Go". The band disbanded in 1996 but reunited for a one-off concert in 2002 and additional shows in 2023 and 2024. Shannon released her self-titled solo album in 2002. Velocity Girl's debut album was remixed and expanded as UltraCopacetic (2024).
