Jean Hubeau, born on June 22, 1917, in Paris, France, was a pianist, composer, and teacher. He began his musical education at the Conservatoire de Paris at age nine, studying with notable figures such as Paul Dukas and Lazare-Lévy. By 13, he had received a first prize in piano. His compositions include Variations pour piano (1933) and the ballet Trois Fables de La Fontaine (1945). In 1934, he won the second prize of Rome for his cantata La Légende de Roukmani. He returned to France to pursue a career as a soloist and composer. From 1957 to 1982, he served as a professor of chamber music at the Conservatoire de Paris. He was known for his recordings of works by Gabriel Fauré and Robert Schumann, collaborating with artists such as Pierre Fournier and Maurice Maréchal. He died on August 19, 1992, in Paris.
