Javier Carlos Brizuela, known professionally as La Pepa Brizuela, was born on March 12, 1970, in Córdoba, Argentina, and became one of the defining voices of the cuarteto scene through a career split between major bands and later solo work. He broke in at the end of the 1980s as a singer with Tru-la-lá, where he recorded and toured during the group’s early-1990s peak years and became associated with hits from their Exageradísimo era. In 1994 he co-founded La Barra, debuting with the band in Córdoba and going on to front one of the genre’s most durable live draws, cutting dozens of releases and turning songs like “Un Millón de Rosas,” “La Carta,” and “Amor Infiel” into staples of the modern cuarteto songbook. After years identified primarily with La Barra, he continued expanding his profile through guest appearances and collaborations across Córdoba’s current generation of groups and singers, and he re-emerged in the mid-2020s with a more visible solo lane. That new chapter included the 2025 collaboration “Corazón de Acero” with DesaKTa2.
