Grifters is an indie rock band based in Memphis formed in 1989. The band originally formed as A Band Called Bud with vocalist and guitarist Scott Taylor, bassist Tripp Lamkins, and vocalist and drummer Dave Shouse who founded the group. After renaming to Grifters by 1990, they released their first album So Happy Together (1992) on the Sonic Noise label. This was followed by One Sock Missing (1993) on Shangri-La Records which featured a cleaner sound and received the band's first positive critical reception. In 1994, the band released Crappin' You Negative which AllMusic highlighted as the pick of the band's discography. Grifters transitioned to a commercial sound for the album Ain't My Lookout (1996) on Sub Pop records, followed by the final studio album Full Blown Possession (1997). Shouse also worked on the side project Those Bastard Souls. The band reunited for tours in 2013 and 2014, and continued to tour as of 2021. Their discography also includes the single “Holmes” (1994).
