Bryony Griffith, born in 1977 in West Yorkshire, England, is a folk musician known for her violin skills. She began playing the piano and violin at a young age and joined the ceilidh band Bedlam during her early teens. In 2000, Griffith relocated to Newcastle upon Tyne where she formed the a cappella quartet Witches of Elswick with Becky Graham, Gillian Tolfrey, and Fay Hield. The group released two albums, Out of Bed in 2003 and Hell's Belles in 2005. Griffith is also a core member of the Demon Barbers, known for their energetic performances and fusion of traditional folk instruments with modern elements. With the band, she released several albums, including Uncut (2002), Waxed (2005), and The Adventures of Captain Ward (2010). The group won the Best Live Act award at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards in 2009.
