Judith Anne Henske, born December 20, 1936, in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, was an American singer-songwriter known for her powerful voice. She began performing in folk clubs in the early 1960s and gained attention with her unique blend of blues, jazz, show tunes, and humorous material. Henske's breakthrough came with her 1963 recording of "High Flying Bird", which became influential in the folk-rock genre. Her first solo album, Judy Henske, was released that same year under Elektra Records. She married musician Jerry Yester in 1963, and they recorded the album Farewell Aldebaran in 1969. Subsequent albums include Loose in the World (1999) and She Sang California (2004). Her music was also featured in various films and documentaries. Henske passed away on April 27, 2022.
