Elevator Suite was formed in January 1999 by Andy Childs, Paul Roberts, and Steve Grainger in England, with Andy Childs and Paul Roberts handling vocals and production, Steve Grainger on drums. Their breakthrough came with the single "Man in a Towel", followed by "Barefoot" and "Weekend Wonderboy"; the first two were BBC Radio 1 Record of the Week and helped secure a European tour supporting Morcheeba. In October 1999 the group released the album Barefoot & Shitfaced on Infectious Records, and the track "Back Around" entered the UK Singles Chart at number 71 in August 2000. After a period of relative quiet, they returned in October 2007 with the self‑titled album Elevator Suite on Pure Mint Recordings; the single "The Wheel" (released 26 November 2007) featured remixes by Phil Hartnoll and Alex Metric. The 2007 lineup included Paul Roberts (vocals), Dan Brown (bass), Andy Childs (vocals/producer), Dan Moore (keyboards), and Jock (drums). The band’s releases remain noted for their blend of electronic music and electro‑pop, though no further studio albums followed.
