Hanna Ekola, born on November 9, 1961 in Kiikka, Finland, is a singer and songwriter. She began her musical career with her brother Martti Heikkilä and sister Saara Suvanto, writing songs together from childhood. Her breakthrough came with the hit "Villihevosia" in 1990, composed by her brother. This song became the most played radio song of 1991 and earned Ekola several gold records and one platinum record. She released her debut album Hanna Ekola that same year under Sonet Records and was awarded the Emma-gaala for New Female Soloist of the Year in 1991. Her subsequent albums include Joutsentanssi (1992), Luonnonlapset (1994), Sateenkaari (1996), Kiitos elämän lahjasta - Hiljaisuuden Lauluja (1997), Enkelin siipien havinaa (2000), and Aurinkotie (2011). Ekola has also written 28 Christian books, receiving the Most Interesting Christian Book of the Year award in 1997.
