Wacław Zimpel is a Polish clarinetist, multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer born on 27 July 1983 in Poznań. He studied classical clarinet at the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań and later at the University of Music and Drama in Hannover. He began his career in jazz and improvised music and gained wider recognition through projects including The Light, Undivided, Hera, and Saagara. Zimpel expanded his work beyond free jazz with the solo album Lines (2016), incorporating minimalism and electronic music, and received the Paszport Polityki in 2016. He subsequently released Massive Oscillations (2020) and collaborated with electronic musician Shackleton on Primal Forms (2020). Zimpel also composed the score for Piotr Domalewski's film Cicha noc (2017). His collaborations include British electronic musician James Holden, with whom he released Long Weekend EP (2020) and the album The Universe Will Take Care of You (2025). In 2026, Zimpel and Dorota Masłowska formed the duo MY I JA and released their first single, “Zapamiętaj te wakacje”.
