Hilario Camacho Velilla was a Spanish singer-songwriter born on 8 June 1948 in Madrid. At age 14, he began playing the guitar and composed his first song one year later. After leaving his university studies in economics, he traveled through Sweden, England, and the Netherlands. Camacho returned to Spain and began his professional career in 1972 with the release of the album A pesar de todo, which featured the song “Los cuatro luceros”. His subsequent studio recordings included De paso (1975), La estrella del alba (1977), and Subir, subir (1986). In 1985, he published the album Tristeza de amor, featuring the theme song for the television series of the same name which achieved high audience figures. Camacho composed music for other artists such as Joaquín Sabina and collaborated on the project Todos por el humo in 1989. His music appeared in films including Manuela (1975) and Lola (1986). During a career spanning over 30 years, he wrote 210 songs and recorded 10 studio albums. Camacho died on 16 August 2006 in Madrid.
