Treaty of Paris, an American rock band from Chicago, Illinois, was formed in January 2005 by Michael Chorvat, Dan Wade, Scott Hoeft, and Brandon Capetillo. The group recruited Phil Kosch for their first show under the name Treaty of Paris, which they adopted permanently. Their debut release, Behind Our Calm Demeanors EP, was released in 2005 and received significant local airplay. In 2007, they collaborated with Andrew McMahon to record their full-length debut album Sweet Dreams, Sucker. The single "Waking Up the Dead" gained international attention through its unique music video. Bassist Brandon Capetillo left in 2008 and was replaced by Nick Fonzi, who exited the band in April 2010. In 2010, they released the Currents EP at their homecoming show in Chicago, where Michael Chorvat dedicated the title track to his mother, who had passed away earlier that day.
