Bernard Soustrot, born on September 3, 1954, in Lyon, is a French classical trumpeter who began his musical journey at age nine when he entered the conservatory of Lyon. He earned a gold medal in trumpet, cornet, and solfège four years later. In 1970, he became a student of Maurice André at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique de Paris, where he won the first prize in trumpet in 1975. His early career included performances with the Orchestre de la SDR in Stuttgart and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio-France under Gilbert Amy. In 1981, he began his international solo career, often collaborating with organists like Jean Dekyndt and François Henry Houbart. He has worked with notable conductors such as Seiji Ozawa and Karl Richter. Since 2015, he has been the artistic director of the Occitania Chamber Orchestra.
