The Kinison, a post-hardcore punk and rock group formed in 1999, emerged from the city of Oblong, Illinois, with frontman Christopher Lee Lewis on vocals. After early line‑up changes and a brief stint in California, the band released its debut EP Mortgage Is Bank in 2003 through Fearless Records, featuring tracks that gained traction in the local punk scene. In 2004, they signed with LaSalle Records and recorded the full‑length album What Are You Listening To? in fifteen days, produced by Pelle Hendricsson and Eskil Lovestrom, and toured as a support act for Blink‑182 on the DollaBill Tour. The group disbanded in 2005 but re‑formed in 2013, issuing the EP Oh, the Guilt via Highwires. Throughout their career, The Kinison earned recognition for their energetic live performances and contributed to the early 2000s punk revival.
