Üebermutter, a German rock band formed in 2006, was founded by Luci van Org following an editorial in Die Zeit that sparked her interest in addressing feminist issues through music. The group initially consisted of van Org on vocals, Anja Schlemm on bass, Peggy Junghanns and Michael Brettner on guitars, and Sabine Ahlbrecht on drums. Üebermutter signed with Roadrunner Records in 2007 after the label's A&R manager was impressed by their demo recordings. Their debut album Unheil! was released on April 4, 2008, and featured a postfeminist concept that garnered significant media attention beyond the metal press. The band performed several concerts across Germany but eventually focused on other projects. In 2017, Üebermutter released new music videos and performed an acoustic set at the Wave-Gotik-Treffen as a trio.
