Gothic Slam, originally formed as Stryker in 1984 in Union City, New Jersey, was an American thrash metal band founded by cousins David Chavarri on drums and Claudio Gonzales on electric guitar. The group underwent several lineup changes before settling with singer Daniel Gomez and bassist JT, followed by the addition of second guitarist Billy Genese. Gothic Slam secured a deal with Torrid Records and released their debut album Killer Instinct in 1986. Their subsequent album, Just a Face in the Crowd, was released under Roadracer Records in 1989. The band gained notable exposure through appearances on MTV's Headbangers Ball and tours with Lääz Rockit. Gothic Slam disbanded in 1991.
