Fimbulvet, a pagan metal band, was founded in 2003 as a solo project by Stephan Gauger. The group initially started with Gauger and Diana Mathesie on keyboard, later adding Marco Volborth on bass and Christian Hopf on guitar. Their first release, the demo Gjallarhorn, was recorded at Powertrack Studio in 2004. Fimbulvet's debut album, Ewiger Winter, was released as an independent production in 2006. Their second album, Der Ruf in Goldene Hallen, was released in 2008 and received positive reviews from Rock Hard. Fimbulvet toured extensively, including performances with Varg, Kromlek, and Turisas. Subsequent releases include the EP Kriegerwahn (2009) and albums Frostbrand – Nach Flammen Sehnsucht (2011), Frostbrand – Eines Bildnis Tracht (2014), Heidenherz (2016), and Portale (2023).
