Keep of Kalessin is a Norwegian extreme metal band formed in Trondheim in 1993. The initial lineup consisted of vocalist Ghâsh, guitarist and keyboardist Obsidian C., bassist Warach, and drummer Vyl. Their first recording was the demo Skygger av Sorg in 1997, followed by their debut studio album, Through Times of War, that same year. The original lineup disbanded in 2000, after which Obsidian C. recorded the EP Reclaim in 2003. In 2004, the band reformed with a new lineup including vocalist Thebon and bassist Wizziac, alongside Vyl on drums. They released their third studio album, Armada, in 2006, and completed a tour with Behemoth and Dimmu Borgir in early 2008. Their fourth album, Kolossus, was released on June 6, 2008, and was nominated for the Spellemannprisen award in the metal category. In 2010, the band participated in the Melodi Grand Prix with the single “The Dragontower”, finishing in third place. Its career also includes the albums Epistemology (2015) and Katharsis, which was released on March 24, 2023, featuring drummer Wanja 'Nechtan' Groeger.
