Brainchild of singer/songwriter/producer Peter Riley, The Dossier emerged from the ashes of early-aughts New York City indie-glam act Saintface. With that group's demise, Riley and multi-instrumentalist Michael Parkin circled back to Riley's electronic roots as teenage frontman for cult synthpop band Joy Machine, whose early underground cassette recordings managed to find viral new life on the internet.
The Dossier alchemized the threads of each project, first appearing in 2010 on tastemaker Spencer Product's Product No 2 compilation with a self-made remix of Another Night, Another Day, and followed on with debut LP Strange Arrangements in 2014. While preparing a follow-up Riley has been a sought-after remixer, guest vocalist, and regular contributor to collaborative electronic outfit Trade Secrets.
Riley and Parkin returned after a lengthy hiatus in late 2020 with the politically-pointed Out of My Way single and followed with an EP of remixes in early 2021.
