Antemasque was an American rock supergroup from El Paso, Texas, that formed in 2014. The ensemble was founded by Omar Rodríguez-López and Cedric Bixler-Zavala, who were previously members of the bands At the Drive-In and The Mars Volta. They achieved an early breakthrough with their debut single, “4AM”, (2014) and released their eponymous debut studio album, Antemasque, later that year. The recording featured Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers on the bass and Dave Elitch on the drums; however, Flea only participated in the studio sessions and was never a permanent member. The group’s live lineup eventually included the bassist Marfred Rodríguez-López and the drummer Travis Barker. In 2015, the ensemble debuted several new songs intended for a second studio album titled Saddle on the Atom Bomb, but the recording was never released. The band has been inactive since late 2015.
