Chrístos Nikolópoulos, born on July 11, 1947, in Kapsochori, Imathia, Greece, is a Greek composer, singer, and bouzouki virtuoso. Having started his stage career at a very young age performing at local festivals and weddings, he relocated to Athens in 1963 and began recording for small record labels. He was discovered by virtuoso bouzouki player Stélios Zafíriou, who introduced him to larger producers. Between 1965 and 1966, Nikolópoulos collaborated with Stélios Kazantzídis, touring Germany, the United States, and Greece. In 1968, he began composing his first songs, subsequently collaborating with Manólis Hiótis and Yórgos Zambétas. He pursued a career writing and performing with prominent rebetiko and laïkó artists, including Vassílis Tsitsánis, Yánnis Papaioánnou, Márkos Vamvakáris, and Marinella, while his compositions were recorded by vocalists such as Elefthería Arvanitáki and Georges Dalaras.
