Blitz//Berlin is a Canadian synthpop trio based in Los Angeles. Formed by Martin Macphail, Dean Rode, and Tristan Tarr from Victoria, BC, they began their film composing career in Toronto in 2014 before relocating to Los Angeles in 2018. Blitz//Berlin gained international recognition in 2016 for "Surfboard Fire," composed for the trailer of The Girl on the Train, which sampled Kanye West's "Heartless." The trio has since composed original scores for films such as The Void and Still/Born. They released their debut album, Distance, in 2015, followed by Movements I (2016) and Movements II (2017). In 2021, they won the Juno Award for Instrumental Album of the Year for Movements III.
