Hey, check out our new Single, Run Now! Out on Jan 13!
“Positive, technically very well made pop music from Germany. Folky, sensitive and splendid. About time we had such a calibre in this country.” – Musix Magazin
When singer-songwriter Johannes "Jojo" Stang started producing his own music videos and putting them online in September 2015, he had no idea what this would lead to. The videos went viral on social media and attracted the attention of other musicians as well. The idea of founding a band quickly arose and “The Rehats” was born.
In 2016, the Rehats travelled to Berlin to record their first EP with producer Tim Tautorat (The Kooks, AnnenMayKantereit) at the renowned Hansa Studios. The first recordings already showed what makes the Rehats special: authentic, handmade songs with hit potential. Tours throughout Germany, Austria and Switzerland followed, as well as appearances at major festivals such as the legendary Chiemsee Summer and the Lörrach Voices Festival.
In 2019 the band went to Wolfgang Stach's (Jupiter Jones, BAP) studio in Cologne to produce their debut album. Working with the producer, who has won multiple gold and platinum awards, was worth it: the album was presented on several radio stations as “Album of the Week” and singles from the album made it into rotation on various stations, including WDR.
In 2020, work started for the new album. For this brought a co-writer on board for the first time. But not just anyone: With his song “Spirits”, Canadian songwriter Simon Ward from the "Strumbellas" landed a world hit in 2016 and achieved gold status in Germany. The fact that the Rehats were able to win over a major player in the Canadian folk and pop scene for the new album project speaks for itself. So you can be more than excited. The album is now scheduled for release in 2022.
