Andrei Romanov was a flutist and keyboardist. Romanov joined the rock group Aquarium in 1974. Inspired by rock-flautists Richard Meier and Ian Anderson, Romanov retrained as a flautist for the band. Romanov contributed to early recordings including Iskushenie Svyatogo Akvariuma (1973) and Pritchi Grafa Diffuzora (1974). Romanov's tenure with Aquarium included performing at the Tallinn Festival of Popular Music in 1976. In 1977, Romanov was drafted into the military for two years. Romanov appeared as the narrator for the television production Khraniteli (1991) and composed the film score, which Aquarium performed.
