Blessed Death, an American thrash metal band, was formed in 1984 in Old Bridge, New Jersey. Their sound, influenced by Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Motörhead, Slayer, Mercyful Fate and Voivod, tackled themes of war, nuclear conflict and apocalypse. They released their debut album Kill or Be Killed on Megaforce Records in 1985. In 1987, they issued Destined for Extinction via Roadrunner Records. Subsequent releases included Terminal Rage (1990) and the live album Live Rage (1991). A 1991 studio session also yielded Hour of Pain. The band broke up in 1992.
