Vircolac, a death metal band based in Dublin, Ireland, was formed in 2013 and initially consisted of Jamie "JG" Grimes on keyboards and guitar, Colin "NH" Purcell on drums, and Darragh O’Laoghaire as the vocalist. Their first release was the EP Codex Perfida, recorded at Sun Studios under the direction of Ola Ersfjord in 2014. The band gained early recognition by performing at the Redemption Festival in 2015 and releasing their next EP, The Cursed Travails of Demeter, through Sepulchral Voice Records and Dark Descent Records in October 2016. In February 2019, Vircolac released their debut album, Masque, again with Sepulchral Voice Records and Dark Descent Records, produced by Ola Ersfjord. The band followed up with the album Veneration in February 2024.
