Guitar Vader was a Japanese underground indie rock band formed in 1998. The group consisted of lead vocalists and songwriters Miki Tanabe on guitar and Ujuan Shozo on bass, along with drummer Yuki Takumiya. Their early releases included cassette tapes Guitar Vader Vol. 1 which gained traction through independent record stores in Tokyo, and Die Happy!. Guitar Vader's breakthrough came with their contributions to the soundtracks of Sega's Jet Set Radio and Jet Set Radio Future, featuring notable tracks such as "Magical Girl" and "Super Brothers". The band released several albums, including Wild at Honey (2000), From Dusk (2001), Dawn (2003), and Happy East (2004). In 2006, Shozo had a heart infection that resulted to the cancellation of their concert in the United States. Guitar Vader disbanded in 2007 due to a falling out between Tanabe and Shozo.
