Rie Tanaka (田中理恵) was born on 3 January 1979 in Japan and began her career as a singer and voice actress. After training at Yoyogi Animation Academy, she entered the music industry with the single "Raison d’être" in May 2002, followed by "Ningyo Hime" in August of the same year, both released under Victor Entertainment. Tanaka’s debut album Club Rie‑Rie #2 was issued in November 1999, and she continued to release studio albums such as garnet (February 2001), 24 wishes (January 2003) and the EP Chara de Rie 〜キャラ・ド・リエ〜 (September 2003). Her work included character songs for popular anime, notably the opening theme for Mobile Suit Gundam SEED and the title track for the Hyperdimension Neptunia series. In 2007 she released the album ローゼンメイデン オーベルテューレ, and later contributed to the Super Dimension Neptunia soundtrack in 2012. Throughout her career she collaborated with major labels such as Aniplex, Victor Entertainment, and Geneon Universal, and her recordings have appeared on anime soundtracks that have charted in Japan’s Oricon rankings, solidifying her presence in the J‑pop and anime music scenes.
