Ruben Hein was born on June 8, 1982, in Bemmel, Netherlands, and is a Dutch pianist, singer and composer in jazz and pop music. He graduated from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in 2008 with a degree in Jazz Piano and went on to perform with artists including Hans Teeuwen and Pete Philly and Perquisite. In 2010, he signed with Blue Note Records and released his debut album, Loose Fit. He followed with albums including Revisited (2012), Hopscotch (2013), Dressed Up (2014), Groundwork Rising (2018), and OCEANS (2022), earning several Dutch music award nominations and wins along the way. He also worked as a keyboardist and backing vocalist with British singer-songwriter Fink and hosted the radio program Ruben's Guestlist. His later work has combined his interests in music and nature, including the album OCEANS and the documentary Sounds of the South, inspired by his journey to the Falkland Islands, South Georgia, and Antarctica.
