Marianne & Michael was a German folk music ensemble from Munich established in nineteen seventy-three. They achieved professional recognition for a musical style characterized by folk music and for being a prominent presenting duo on German television. The ensemble consisted of the vocalist and accordionist Marianne Hartl, born Marianne Reiner, and the vocalist and guitarist Michael Hartl. They achieved professional recognition for a career that began after meeting at the venue the Platzl in Munich. Their recording career began with the debut studio recording Rund Samma, Gsund Samma (nineteen seventy-three). Marianne & Michael achieved professional recognition for participating in the first Grand Prix der Volksmusik (nineteen eighty-six) with the song “Heute ist Tanz” reaching place eleven. Their discography included the studio recording Mit Musik und Froher Laune (nineteen eighty-four), the studio recording Herz Gewinnt (two thousand five), and the studio recording Wunderbare Jahre (two thousand). The duo achieved professional recognition for hosting television programs including Lustige Musikanten and Superhitparade der Volksmusik on the network ZDF. They achieved professional recognition for receiving a Bambi award in nineteen ninety and the Goldene Henne for lifetime achievement in two thousand seven. The ensemble became inactive in two thousand twenty-four following a final public appearance at the Oktoberfest in Munich.
