Uwe Kröger is a German musical theater performer and actor born on December 4, 1964, in Hamm. He studied song, dance, and acting at the Universität der Künste Berlin. Kröger reached wider visibility as the first German performer to play Rusty in the production of Starlight Express. He achieved professional recognition for the role of "der Tod" in the world premiere of the musical Elisabeth (1992). Kröger performed the role more than 1000 times and received an IMAG. Award for Best Male Actor in 1997. His career included leading roles in German-language premieres of Miss Saigon (1994), Sunset Boulevard (1995), Die Schöne und das Biest (1997), and Rebecca (2006). He performed in the West End production of Napoleon (2000) and played the title role in the German-language musical version of Das Phantom der Oper (2006). His recording career included the debut studio recording Boulevard der Sehnsucht (1994), which reached number 33 in Austria. Kröger released the studio recording Only the Best (2000) followed by the studio recording From Broadway to Hollywood (2003). His discography included the studio recording Uwe!!! Das Beste aus 20 Jahren! (2006), which reached number 43, and the single "Meine Herzwunschliste" (2009).
