Carolyn Breuer is a German jazz saxophonist born on July 4, 1969, in Munich. She is the daughter of jazz musician Hermann Breuer. She studied at the Hilversum Conservatory under musician Ferdinand Povel and served as a member of the Bundesjazzorchester. Breuer undertook private training in New York City with George Coleman and Branford Marsalis. She established her own record label NotNowMom! Records in 2000. Her recording career included the debut studio recording A Family Affair (1993) followed by the studio recording Simply Be (1995). Breuer released the studio recording Fate Smiles On Those Who Stay Cool (2000). She reached wider visibility with the studio recording Serenade (2003) recorded with the orchestra of the Concertgebouw Amsterdam for which she received the Heidelberger Künstlerpreis. She performed as a guest soloist with the WDR Big Band Köln. Their discography included the studio recording Four Seasons of Life (2013) and the studio recording Oneironaut (2023).
