Aftandil Eynulla oğlu İsrafilov, known professionally as Avtandil İsrafilov, was born in 1941, in Baku, Azerbaijan. He began his musical journey by studying at the faculty of civil engineering at the Polytechnic Institute but left to pursue a career in music, focusing on the garmon. İsrafilov formed an ensemble within Azkonsert, where he served as the artistic director. In 1970, he embarked on a significant tour with Zeynab Khanlarova across Turkey and performed internationally with his ensemble. İsrafilov composed over 100 dance tunes, including "Zemfira", "Kamala", "Nazila", "Aynura", "Jala", and "Basgalı". He was honored as the People's Artist of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 1998 and received the Order of Glory in 2016. He was a personal pensioner of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan since 2003. He passed away in 2023, in Baku.
