Dovetail Joint is an American alternative rock band formed in Chicago, Illinois, in 1992. The band originally consisted of vocalist and guitarist Charles “Chuck” Gladfelter, guitarist Robert Byrne, bassist Jon Kooker, and drummer Joe Dapier. After independently releasing their self-titled debut album in 1995, the group gained wider attention with the song "Level on the Inside," which was featured on the 1998 compilation Local 101, Vol. 1 by Chicago radio station WKQX. The track’s success led to a deal with Columbia Records and the release of their major-label debut 001 in 1999. After recording The Killing of Cool for Columbia, the album remained unreleased. The band broke up in 2002 but reunited in later years, releasing Keep the Vultures Fed in 2024.
