Léa Castel, born Léa Folli Castello in 1988 in Marseille, France, was recruited by rapper Soprano into his Street Skillz label, which he invited her to sign with in 2006. Soprano had featured in 2005 on her track "Dernière Chance", which later appeared on the compilation Block Life 4. She released her debut studio album Pressée de vivre in April 2008, a project that achieved platinum status with 200 000 copies sold, and she opened for Chris Brown at the Zénith de Paris to present it. The same year, "Dernière Chance", featuring Soprano, was released as a single, and in 2010 she recorded the French version of Disney's "Can't Back Down", titled "N'abandonne pas", for the soundtrack to the film Camp Rock 2. After a series of singles and collaborations, including "Abîmée" (2016), "Amazone" (2017), and "À cause de toi" (2016), Castel returned with the single "Amour à la haine" in January 2021, followed by "Pas tout compris" alongside Gringe and "Lovely" with Jul, culminating in the release of her second album Roue libre in September 2021. She then sang "Ma place" with rapper FIVE in 2022 and appeared on "Besoin de toi" alongside Naps, Houari and others in 2024, keeping her active in French R&B.
