DJ Balli is an Italian disc jockey, producer, and writer born as Riccardo Balli on December 9, 1972, in Bologna. He began his professional career as a drummer for the straight-edge hardcore ensemble Isotopi del Dolore and later performed as a noise musician. Balli relocated to London and subsequently returned to Italy in 1997, where he began mixing and producing breakcore music. He reached wider visibility in 2000 after contributing three tracks to the compilation recording Rave in Space. In 2000, Balli established the independent label Sonic Belligeranza and released the studio recording Indagations Serious and Comical at Around 333 bpm (2000). His recording career included the studio recording Transmutations (2001) followed by Straight-Edge Rastafari Manifesto (2003) and Boyscouts-Ravers Must Die! (2007). He subsequently released the studio recording Extreme 8 Bit Terror (2011) and collaborated with the musician Ralph Brown on the recording Tweet It! (Extratone Mix) (2012). Balli has also authored several books on electronic music and counterculture.
