75 Dollar Bill is a musical duo formed in New York City in 2012, consisting of Che Chen on guitar and Rick Brown on drums. The group's early influences included Moorish music, with Chen studying under Jheich Ould Chighaly in Mauritania in 2013. Their debut album, Wooden Bag, was released in 2015 through Other Music Recording Company, followed by Wood/Metal/Plastic/Pattern/Rhythm/Rock on Thin Wrist in 2016. The duo expanded to a larger ensemble for their 2019 album I Was Real, which was named the Number One album of the year by The Wire. They subsequently released several live recordings, including Live at Tubby's and Power Failures.
